Most Innovative Outstation Physician Award 2024

This award is presented to recognize the exemplary work carried out by physicians practicing in a non-teaching hospital but not necessarily limited to outstation settings, emphasizing innovation, public health impact, sustainability, and personal dedication.

Eligibility

  • The applicant should be a full member of the Ceylon College of Physicians
  • Project or work submitted must be conducted in a non-teaching hospital but not necessarily limited to outstation settings
  • Project or work submitted must have been completed within the past three years from the date of application.
  • The submitted project or work should not have previously received the same award or any other award for similar contributions from the Ceylon College of Physicians.

You are requested to submit the following documents when applying.

  1. A ⁠summary of the project with documentary and pictorial evidence.
    • Word count should be between 2000 to 3000 words.
    • All documents should be formatted as Times New Roman, font size 12, double spaced.
    • File size should be less than 100 MB. Microsoft word documents (.docx) and PDFs are accepted.
  2. A letter from the head of the institution of the hospital/institution where the project was/is being carried out, certifying the project was carried out by the applicant and the role of the applicant in the said project.
  3. An up-to-date CV of yourself.
  4. A personal statement that the project was initiated by the physician and is a novel project.

The submission will be judged on the following criteria

  • Novelty/originality/innovativeness: The degree to which the project introduces a new concept, method, or approach to solving a healthcare issue.
  • Addressing an important regional/national public health issue/need: The relevance of the project in tackling a critical public health concern or a need affecting the region or country.
  • Impact on service provision development: The measurable improvements the project has brought to healthcare services.
  • Contribution to teaching and training: The role of the project in enhancing the skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals or trainees.
  • Research and audit: The use of research or audits to guide, implement, or evaluate the project.
  • Sustainability: The potential for the project to be maintained or expanded over time.
  • Multisectoral involvement: The level of collaboration with other specialties, allied health professionals, or sectors (e.g., public health, NGOs).
  • Personal motivation and contribution to the project: The level of personal effort, leadership, and ownership demonstrated by the applicant in the project.

You may be requested to make a presentation for the evaluators during the selection process
